"Have You Considered My Servant, Job?"

According to the Bible, one day a long time ago, the sons of God came to present themselves before Him, and Satan also came among them.  God asked Satan what he was doing.  In today's vernacular Satan would have said something like, "Oh, just messing around."  Actually he was looking for some mischief to get into and also to see if there was someone he could harm, because that's what he does.  God asked him, "Have you considered my servant, Job?"  In my opinion, that is one of the greatest compliments ever paid to a mortal man.  When Almighty God had enough confidence in a mere man that He knew would not fail, no matter what.  Job was a blessed man with great possessions and a wonderful, loving family.  God took his protection away from Job and gave Satan free rein to do whatever he desired to him, except take his life.  Job lost everything, including his sons and daughters.  Only his wife was left to tell him that he ought to curse God and die.  Not exactly the kind of encouragement he needed at the time, but still Job stayed true to God.  Read the book of "Job" sometime.  Most of us know the story.  Through it all Job stayed true to God and his belief in Him.  In the end, he was restored to more than he had before.  But, the thing that struck me more than anything else about this story is that God trusted Job without reservation above all other men on the face of the earth.  All of this, I think, just to let us know that we should trust God, no matter what.  I don't know about you, but it also reminds me of how much more I need to consecrate my life and everything I am to the Almighty and to trust Him in all circumstances.  Life may be great for you, but it would be so much greater if you invite Him into your life.
